Chris Pratt, best known as lovable buffoon Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation, has nabbed the lead role in Marvel’s upcoming space epic Guardians of the Galaxy.
According to Deadline, Pratt will play the Star-Lord Peter Quill, who fronts a team of alien superheroes.
He reportedly beat out Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace, and Eddie Redmayne for the part.
Pratt has previously shown off his dramatic talents as an warm-hearted baseball player in Moneyball and, more recently, as the lead Navy SEAL in Zero Dark Thirty.
It is not yet known who will play the remaining members of the squadron. We are particularly interested in who might star as Rocket Raccoon.
James Gunn will direct the flick, set to hit cinemas in 2014.
