Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen are in talks to join the cast of the upcoming Godzilla remake, Variety reports.
With Gareth Edwards directing – he gave us the delightful low-budget sci-fi Monsters back in 2010 – and Frank Darabont finalising the screenplay – responsible for The Shawshank Redemption and countless other Stephen King adaptations – Godzilla is shaping up to be a much anticipated 2014 release.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass) is already said to be attached to the film, although there are no details as yet about the plot or central characters, so your guess as to who Taylor-Johnson, Cranston and Olsen will play is as good as ours.
Landing such a franchise would be a big leap for both Cranston, who has conquered the small screen in Breaking Bad, and Olsen, who stepped out from her older sisters’ shadows in 2011 with her performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene.
With production set to kick off in March, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer to find out who’s going up against the giant reptile.
