Quvenzhané Wallis in consideration for Annie

Willow Smith passed on the long-gestating Annie reboot earlier this month, paving the way for Oscar-nominated Beasts of the Southern Wild star Quvenzhané Wallis to step in.

According to EW, 9-year-old Wallis is “in consideration” to star in Sony’s update of the much-loved musical.

Will Smith and Jay-Z are producing the project, which Will Gluck (Easy A) is attached to direct.

Emma Thompson wrote the first iteration of the screenplay, later reworked by Aline Brosh.

Wallis, the youngest ever Best Actress nominee, will next be seen in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave.
