Peter and Michael Spierig will reteam with their Daybreakers star Ethan Hawke for another sci-fi jaunt, Predestination.
According to Inside Film, the flick will begin its six-week shoot in April.
The picture concerns a retiring “temporal agent” (Hawke) who must recruit his younger self and hunt down the criminal that has evaded capture his entire career.
Before you criticise the Spierigs for ripping off Looper, note that this is based on Robert A. Heinlein’s 1959 short story All You Zombies (which, frankly, has far more mind-bending paradoxes than Rian Johnson’s recent time-travel flick).
The brothers Spierig were once set to follow up Daybreakers with a sequel to The Dark Crystal, but the project was later canned.
They also previously attempted to set up a biopic of adventurer Yossi Ghinsberg.
Predestination will be distributed by Pinnacle Films in Aus, and Sony Pictures in the US.
