Robert Rodriguez has revealed some new images from his upcoming Sin City sequel via Twitter, and they are perfectly dark, pulpy, and noirish.
The main image features Josh Brolin, who is playing the character Clive Owen portrayed in the first film. (It’s not exactly a traditional recast; we are told there is a narrative reason for the character to be played by two separate actors.)
The sequel, consisting of four separate stories, is set both before and after the original, with many plot-lines interlinking with its predecessor’s narrative.
The second image Rodriguez released was a set photo featuring Brolin at work in green-screen world.
It’s an intriguing insight into the work flow of a movie that is almost entirely constructed inside a computer; literally the only ‘real’ items in this scene are a steering wheel and Brolin.
Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, co-directed by Frank Miller, is quickly becoming one of the most interesting and anticipated releases of the year. It hits late 2013.
