After a time in the wilderness, Michael Keaton is set to return to the world of feature film starring roles. The Hollywood Reporter recently announced Keaton as lead in the upcoming dark comedy Birdman.
Birdman is a change of pace for hard-hitting drama director Alejandro González Iñárritu (21 Grams, Babel); it tells the blackly comic story of a former comic book actor who is putting on a Broadway play in the hopes of reigniting his career.
Keaton will be joined by Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, and Naomi Watts.
After a legendary stretch of films in the 80s and 90s (Beetlejuice, Batman, Jackie Brown) Keaton seemed to lose his acting mojo.
Over the last decade, he has struggled doing everything from shorts to voice work.
His return to the big screen is most certainly a welcome one and Birdman seems like a tailor-made comeback film.
