Trailer Debut: Frances Ha

The trailer for Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha has been released and proposes an honest portrayal of a twenty-something woman trying to find her place in life.

Frances Ha

Greta Gerwig (who co-wrote the film with Baumbach) stars as Frances, a New York resident struggling to define what she does, where she lives, or who her friends are.

The film is, according to its official synopsis, an exploration of “New York, friendship, class, ambition, failure, and redemption” and is interestingly filmed in black and white.

Gerwig last worked with Baumbach on Greenberg, a film that highlighted her potential as a leading lady. Since then she’s been struck with a string of box office disappointments including To Rome with Love and Arthur.

It’s unfortunate that Frances Ha is set for a limited theatrical release as it looks to showcase her delightful charm; precisely what made Whit Stillman’s Damsels in Distress such a pleasure.
