Disney is plotting a sequel to Sam Raimi’s Wizard of Oz prequel Oz the Great and Powerful; a plan that will surely be turned into a reality following the picture’s massive debut at the U.S. box office over the weekend.
According to Variety, Disney has signed Mitchell Kapner – who co-wrote the first flick with David Lindsay-Abaire – to start scripting a follow-up.
We’re presuming the sequel will take place again before the events of the original Wizard of Oz.
No other details are available.
Oz collected a massive $80 million in its first frame; the biggest debut of 2013, and the third best March opening ever.
