The mildly anti-climactic first trailer for The Hangover Part III has been released, promising more of the same but now with added John Goodman.
Despite offering very little in way of plot, the trailer does point towards a shift in the formula for this third and possibly last Hangover.
There is no wedding and no bachelor party (in fact, quite possibly no ‘hangover’). Early reports suggest the film centres on Zach Galifianakis’ character, who is struggling after the death of his father.
The plot is also rumoured to revolve around Wolfpack members Stu (Ed Helms) and Phil (Bradley Cooper) breaking Galifianakis’ Alan out of a mental health facility.
At least they are trying something different with this third entry after the horrible, carbon copy sequel they subjected us to last time.
The trailer doesn’t fill us with huge confidence (that closing giraffe gag really misses the mark) but director Todd Phillips and his cast have all struck gold in the past. Fingers crossed they have been freshly inspired.
The Hangover Part III hits cinemas in May.
