In a wide ranging conversation with The Playlist, Danny Boyle revealed he definitely has no interest in directing a Bond film.
Skyfall director Sam Mendes has been unwilling to confirm or deny his interest in directing the next instalment, and the internet has jumped at the chance to speculate on who would be a good replacement.
The obvious choice – if we are thinking big time British directors – would be Danny Boyle, especially after he knocked the London Olympic opening ceremony out of the park.
But Boyle seems adamantly uninterested saying, “They are not really the [films] for me”.
After doing his little Bond bit in the opening ceremony (yes, I’m referring to the Queen skydiving with Bond into the arena) Boyle apparently had his fill, claiming the movies are just too big for him.
He went on to discuss how he prefers to have a budgetary ceiling to his pictures as that’s where his true creativity lies, “And that’s where the energy, belief and evangelical nature of the process comes from.”
His latest picture, Trance, hits cinemas in April.
