Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum wanted for Guys and Dolls remake

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum are at the top of 20th Century Fox’s wish list for their upcoming remake of Guys and Dolls, Deadline reports.

They would tackle the roles made famous by Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando.

The remake of the Tony Award winning stage show and Academy Award nominated film has no writer or director attached as yet but word is Gordon-Levitt and Tatum are both interested in the project.

It’s not the first time that a remake has been on producers’ minds over in Hollywood, with Harvey Weinstein responsible for the most recent failed attempt.

The film follows friends Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterson in 1920s New York City, full of gamblers and gangsters. Nathan is looking to raise some funds for a craps game and bets Sky he can’t get the wholesome missionary Sarah to accompany him to Havana. The bet works fine until Sky realises he’s fallen in love with Sarah for real.

Both Gordon-Levitt and Tatum showed off their dancing chops recently at the Oscars ceremony so the interest in their casting comes as no surprise. Still, one has to question if they are capable of filling the mighty big shoes once worn by Brando and Sinatra.
