Bradley Cooper exits cursed western Jane Got a Gun

Bradley Cooper is the latest actor to exit the seemingly cursed production of Jane Got a Gun.

According to Deadline, Cooper bowed out of the feature on account of scheduling conflicts with David O. Russell’s American Hustle.

In an official statement, he said “I am unable to join Natalie [Portman, producer and star], Joel [Edgerton], Noah [Emmerich] and Gavin [O’Connor, director] on this truly exciting project. I was really looking forward to being a part of it and hope to work with each and every one in the future.”

Considering this picture’s plagued history, it’s hard to believe this is merely a matter of scheduling gone awry.

The first sign of discord came when Michael Fassbender backed out of the movie during pre-production.

The drama truly kicked off, however, when director Lynne Ramsay failed to show up for the first day of work.

Warrior helmer Gavin O’Connor was brought on board, which subsequently led to one of its stars, Jude Law, backing out.

To bring us full circle, Bradley Cooper had been brought in to replace Law.

A short-list of actors that might be reached to take up the gig include Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Tom Hiddleston.

What’s the film about, anyway? Portman plays the wife of a cowardly gunslinger (Emmerich) who recruits a former lover (Edgerton) to help protect their farm, when a hired killer (Law, Cooper, and now someone else) comes to execute them.
