The poster for the John Wells directed adaptation of August: Osage County has been released, highlighting how star studded its cast is.
The film, adapted from Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play, stars Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts as mother and daughter alongside Ewan McGregor, Chris Cooper, Abigail Breslin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, Margo Martindale, and Dermot Mulroney.
Letts has written the screenplay about a family crisis which brings the disbanded Weston women back to the family home in the Midwest, perfectly symbolised on the poster as the cast of names hover above the home ready to tumble in. And you know, despite the picture perfect house with the white picket fence and American flag out the front, that that many people under one roof can only spell dysfunction.
The film is being pushed as an awards season favourite for the Weinstein Company. Set for a November release in the United States, it’s perfectly timed to capture Oscar’s attention.
