Trailer Debut: Ain’t Them Bodies Saints

The first trailer for David Lowery’s crime drama Ain’t Them Bodies Saints has appeared online, and it proves you can’t go home again.

Bob Muldoon (Casey Affleck) and Ruth Gunthrie (Rooney Mara) are outlaws in love and on the run following a crime spree. A shootout in which Ruth wounds an officer finally sees them arrested, with Bob taking the blame and the jail time, urging Ruth to wait for him.

Four years later he escapes from prison and sets out to reunite with Ruth and their young daughter, who was born during his incarceration, but what he finds is a woman who has fallen for another man, Patrick Wheeler (Ben Foster).

The film won acclaim and the Grand Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and looks every part the festival darling. It’s dark, moody and poetic, with what seem to be considered performances from Affleck and Mara.

Ain’t Them Bodies Saints does not currently have an Australian release date.
