Carey Mulligan is the front-runner to play Hillary Rodham Clinton in an upcoming biopic of the former Secretary of State, THR reports.
The British-born Mulligan has overtaken contenders such as Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain, and Emma Stone for the title role in Rodham.
Director James Ponsoldt is set to sit down with the actress to ensure she’s right for the part before negotiations begin.
The script comes from Young Il Kim, and details Hillary’s time as a young lawyer working on the committee to impeach President Richard Nixon, whilst also dealing with “her unresolved feelings for future president Bill Clinton.”
