The Avengers may have found their Quicksilver.
Ever since director Joss Whedon revealed his desire to feature brother and sister team Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in The Avengers 2, the internet has been abuzz with casting rumours.
According to The Wrap, Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is – legitimately – the frontrunner for the role.
Here’s where things get complicated.
Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch are the spawn of Magneto, the Marvel character whose rights belong to 20th Century Fox (along with the rest of the X-Men).
But, because Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are also affiliated with The Avengers, Disney share the rights for these characters with Fox.
Evan Peters was recently cast as Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
So! X-Men: Days of Future Past hits cinemas in 2014, with The Avengers coming in 2015. If you’re not already familiar with Quicksilver, prepare to be surrounded by him in the next few years.
