Terminator 5 to start shooting in January

Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed last week the long-gestating Terminator 5 would finally begin shooting in January of 2014.

The Terminator

According to Deadline, the reason this sci-fi sequel has finally gotten off the ground involves its interesting funding structure.

Megan Ellison, who bought the rights to the franchise for $20 million back in 2011, will pony up 33 per cent of the budget, while her brother, David, will provide another 33 per cent (they are children to billionaire Larry Ellison).

Paramount Pictures will provide the final 33 per cent.

Work must begin immediately if the parties want to see a return on their investment.

The rights for the series return to James Cameron in 2019, meaning the Ellison family only have a few years to produce the new instalments.
