Rumours of a tumultuous production be damned, Paramount are beginning work on a sequel to their surprise hit World War Z.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a follow-up will be developed by Paramount and star Brad Pitt’s production house Plan B.
World War Z grossed $66 million in its first frame; the best ever opening for a Brad Pitt movie.
That almost makes the years of struggle to actually make the movie worthwhile.
The picture’s original release date was delayed by six months when it was decided that it needed serious reworking.
New screenwriters were brought on board, the filmed final battle sequence was scrapped, and a new climax devised.
There were reports of Pitt and director Marc Forster falling out during the shoot, but both have denied such claims while promoting the movie.
It is unknown if Forster will return for World War … what comes after Z?
