Get ready for an all-singing Cameron Diaz as Deadline reports she has just been cast in the upcoming screen version of the beloved musical Annie.
She’ll take up the role of bad teacher Miss Hannigan after Sandra Bullock reportedly stepped down.
Diaz is a somewhat unknown entity in the singing stakes. Actually, we did see her sing bad karaoke in My Best Friend’s Wedding, so we know she can at least pretend-sing badly.
This screen adaptation of Annie is set to have loads of cool cred, as Will Smith and Jay Z are producing, the cute little girl of the moment, Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts Of The Southern Wild), will take the titular role, and Jamie Foxx will play her father.
It hits cinemas Christmas Day 2014. Will Gluck directs.
