Fruitvale Station director and star set for Rocky spin-off Creed

Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler has the world at his fingertips, thanks to the rapturous acclaim his picture has received since bowing at Sundance.

Deadline reveals his follow-up will be titled Creed, though it’s not about the much-despised Christian rock band of the same name.

Coogler will reteam with his Oscar-bound Fruitvale star Michael B. Jordan for what will be the seventh instalment in the Rocky series.

This picture, however, will follow the grandson of Rocky Balboa’s fallen frenemy Apollo Creed.

Though Jordan is still in negotiations with MGM for the part of Creed, Sylvester Stallone is already attached to reprise the role of Rocky, who will train the young boxer in this new sequel.
