Beverly Hills Cop heading back to cinemas after failed TV pilot

Eddie Murphy

Paramount Pictures will bring Beverly Hills Cop back to the big screen, following the franchise’s failed transition to television.

According to Deadline, Eddie Murphy has been enlisted to reprise the role of Axel Foley in a sequel set to be scripted by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.

The duo previously penned Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.

The pilot for the Beverly Hills Cop TV show was passed on by CBS earlier in the year.

It starred Brandon T. Jackson as Foley’s son, but it was Murphy’s cameo in the show that created the most buzz.

And so here we are.
