Trailer Debut: Parkland

One of the more interesting indie releases of late 2013 will most certainly be Parkland, which details the assassination of President Kennedy from the perspective of the event’s lesser known players.

Paul Giamatti plays Abraham Zapruder, the gent who unwittingly recorded one of the most significant moments in modern history; Billy Bob Thornton stars as a secret service agent; doctor Zac Efron and nurse Marcia Gay Harden treat Kennedy’s body when it’s rushed to hospital, while James Badge Dale and Jacki Weaver portray assassin Lee Harvey Oswald’s brother and mother, respectively.

It’s a compelling concept, and the trailer evokes recent ‘case study’ thrillers such as Contagion and Zero Dark Thirty.

Peter Landesman writes and directs. Tom Hanks is a producer.

It hits U.S. cinemas this October, with an international release to follow.
