Kurt Russell in talks for Fast and Furious 7

Kurt Russell might be the latest big-screen heavy to join the cast of Universal’s Fast and Furious franchise.

According to Variety, Russell is in negotiations to take the role originally passed on by Denzel Washington in Fast and Furious 7.

Considering the calibre of the actors sought for this part, it must be fairly significant.

It is unlikely – but deeply hoped – that Russell will play the maniacal, car-driving killer last seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. (We can dream.)

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker return for the seventh instalment of the saga, this time facing off against bad guy Jason Statham.

UFC star Ronda Rousey and Ong-Bak’s Tony Jaa have also joined the ensemble.

James Wan takes over directorial duties from the outgoing Justin Lin.
