Pirates 5 pushed to 2016

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 won’t arrive on our shores in 2015, as originally promised by Disney.

The sequel – subtitled Dead Men Tell No Tales – will now likely hit cinemas in the American summer of 2016.

Deadline suggests the delay is due to the studio’s dissatisfaction with the script (or, at the very least, the feeling that it wasn’t worth rushing the production of a major tentpole release).

Kon-Tiki helmers Joachim Roenning and Espen Sandberg will direct the fifth instalment of the series.

Johnny Depp is set to return as Jack Sparrow.
