Warner Bros studio has smartly extended the Harry Potter gravy train by recruiting J.K. Rowling to write the screenplay for a new spin-off.
In an official statement, Rowling explained how her Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them would become “the first picture in a new film series.”
She will adapt “Newt Scamander’s” book for the screen herself.
“The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway,” she said.
There is no release date yet for Fantastic Beasts, but expect to hear plenty more about it over the coming years.
