Bryan Cranston’s first major post-Breaking Bad gig could see him go from Emmy-winner to Oscar-victor.
According to Deadline, Cranston will play legendary screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who was famously blacklisted in the 1950s by the House Un-American Activities Committee.
Following an 11-month stint in prison, Trumbo proceeded to win Academy Awards for Roman Holiday and The Brave One (under the names of Ian McLellan Hunter and Walter Mirisch, respectively).
Jay Roach will direct Trumbo, with production set to begin in 2014.
Reports that Cranston will also play Lex Luthor in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel are still unconfirmed.
