Fast & Furious 7 will not meet its July 2014 release date, with Universal putting the production on an indefinite hold in the wake of star Paul Walker’s death.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the heads at Universal and the film’s creative team – led by director James Wan – are considering how best to proceed.
Sources close to the production have revealed to The Wrap some of the possibilities, including scrapping the footage already shot and starting once again from scratch, or even using CGI to place Walker’s face on another actor’s body.
The producers, reportedly, have veered away from that last thing.
Starting over entirely, despite seeming extreme, is not out of the realm of possibility. Universal are insured for the $200 million production, and would likely see a full return should they decide to begin again.
Expect more news in the coming weeks.
