Emilia Clarke cast as Sarah Connor in ‘Terminator: Genesis’

Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke has been cast as Sarah Connor in the upcoming Terminator: Genesis, Deadline reports.

Clarke beat out Brie Larson to the role. (Paramount had both actresses on hold while they toyed with their decision.)

She’ll potentially join Jason Clarke (no relation), who is in negotiations to play John Connor, the revolution-leading son of Sarah.

This fifth Terminator movie will likely see the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role.

Alan Taylor, director of Thor: The Dark World, will helm.

It’s no surprise Taylor went for Clarke, the two of them having worked together on Game of Thrones. 

Paramount will release the flick July 2015, and it’s intended as the first in a new trilogy.
