The 10 Worst Films of 2013

The 10 Worst Films of 2013

December: for avid list-makers, it’s the cinematic equivalent of Thunderdome. (Hundreds of movies go in. Only one comes out.) We’ve spent the past eleven months reviewing 2013′s releases as fairly and thoughtfully as possible, but that veneer of considerate criticism will be dropped in favour of sweet, sweet chart-making. Let the arbitrary rankings begin!

I penned my list of the 10 Worst Films of the Year before diving into the 10 Best, because one can’t truly savour the sweet until after they’ve sucked the sour. And boy, did we suck a whole lot of sour in 2013. Of course, we were actually spoiled with great cinema over the past twelve months, which is perhaps why the following movies felt especially awful. We highlight them here for context: without the bad, there cannot be good. So, erm, “thanks” to all of them for being so very bad.
