Friday Night Lights alum Jesse Plemons is being considered for one of the lead roles in Disney’s upcoming Star Wars sequel.
According to The Wrap, Plemons impressed the studio with his taped audition, and will meet with director J.J Abrams this week.
The 25-year-old Texan first emerged on the scene as nice-guy footballer Landry in the TV series Friday Night Lights, and has since appeared in films of varying acclaim, such as Battleship and The Master.
In 2012, he joined the cast of Breaking Bad, playing the dead-eyed sociopath Todd (lovingly nicknamed ‘Ricky Hitler’).
Plemons’ similar appearance to former Star Wars, ahem, star, Mark Hamill has been noted, though it’s unknown if he’ll be playing one of Luke Skywalker’s offspring. Should he be cast, it might just turn out that pale-skinned dudes are the most midi-chlorian-rich
Abrams has co-written the script for Star Wars Episode VII with Lawrence Kasdan. The film will hit cinemas December 2015.
