Elizabeth Banks will aca-direct Pitch Perfect 2

Elizabeth Banks has been lined up to direct Pitch Perfect 2 for Universal, Deadline reports.

After producing the first flick, she will make the second picture her feature directorial debut.

Banks previously helmed a short for the much-reviled compendium Movie 43 (though, in fairness, hers wasn’t the worst).

The 2012 original, based on the book by Mickey Rapkin all about the cut-throat world of a cappella competitions, grossed more than $115 million at the box office and spawned a runaway chart success with Anna Kendrick’s ‘Cups’.

Screenwriter Kay Cannon (30 Rock) will return to pen the sequel.

Much of the cast is expected to reprise their roles.
