Frozen has become the eighteenth movie – and only the second animated picture – to crack the magical billion-dollar mark at the worldwide box office.
It occurred in the same weekend that the Disney musical picked up Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (the latter making an EGOT out of song-writer Robert Lopez).
And, while we’re at it, let’s mention another record broken by this box office behemoth: it is the first flick directed by a woman to crack the big billion.
Jennifer Lee helmed Frozen alongside Chris Buck.
Sitting on a total worldwide tally just beyond $1 billion, it’s merely $63 million behind the highest grossing animated movie, Toy Story 3 (11th overall).
The all-time record-holder remains Avatar, sitting at a seemingly untouchable $2.78 billion.
To all other comers: let it go.
