Hugh Jackman has played Logan (aka Wolverine) in six separate X-Men movies, and will reprise the role once again in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Though Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, Catwoman, and the Hulk have all been recast (in the case of the Hulk, two times) during Jackman’s tenure, he admits he won’t be Wolverine forever.
Mostly because Wolverine is an ageless, regenerative mutant, and Jackman, handsome as he is, is a slowly decaying mortal like the rest of us.
He told IGN that even though the makers of the X-Men films have never said the “recasting” word to him, he’s “sure they had the discussion.”
“Look, that’s inevitable, man. Anyone who thinks they’re indispensable in this business is fooling themselves. But I feel unbelievably blessed to have this part.
“I’m sure by the way, that it won’t always be my decision to always be here. At some point, someone will close the door on me… [Laughs]”
Sunrise, sunset. Sunrise, sunset.
The release of X-Men: Days of Future Past, like the icy grip of death, looms ever closer.
