‘Call of Duty’ screenwriter retooling ‘Mission: Impossible 5’

Mission: Impossible 5 is getting a rewrite courtesy of Will Staples, the screenwriter behind video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount, Skydance, director Christopher McQuarrie and star/producer Tom Cruise recruited Staples to retool a draft by Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3).

Though much of Staples public work is in the video game realm, he has a number of scripts at different studios, some tied to stars Ben Affleck and Jeremy Renner, still in the works.

Mission: Impossible 5 is set to hit cinemas December 25, 2015.
