Oscar-winning ‘Searching for Sugar Man’ director Malik Bendjelloul dead at 36


Searching for Sugar Man director Malik Bendjelloul has died, aged 36.

Police did not provide any details on the death, except to reveal he had passed away in the Stockholm area.

The police are reportedly not treating his death as suspicious.

Searching for Sugar Man, which documented the mysterious disappearance and sudden resurgence of folk legend Rodriguez, was Bendjelloul’s feature debut.

The film earned him numerous accolades, including the 2013 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
