Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie join ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

Lucasfilm has announced the newest additions to Star Wars: Episode VII, and they’re just the greatest. Welcome Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o and Game of Thrones breakout Gwendoline Christie to the cosmos, superfans.

Nyong’o, who picked up the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for 12 Years a Slave, had been rumoured to be circling a part in the epic space drama for some time.

Christie is best known as Brienne from the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, and has a key role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

Who they’ll be playing is anyone’s guess; Nyong’o has been linked to both a villainous role and that of Obi-Wan’s descendant.

They join previously-cast series newcomers Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow.

Original stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and Anthony Daniels are all returning for the J.J. Abrams’ directed sequel.

Star Wars: Episode VII hits cinemas December 2015.
