The Mummy 3 Trailer Debut: Awesome or Unnecessary?

The full theatrical trailer for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor has hit the interweb, promising exactly what you would expect.

Long shots of the desert? Check. Wisecracking Brendan Fraser? Check. Skeleton’s fighting each other? Check.

Fraser is joined by a fairly new cast, with Michelle Yeoh, Jet Li as The Dragon Emperor, and Maria Bello replacing Rachel Weisz.

Considering that the Mummy series was developed as Indiana Jones-lite, it will be interesting to see if audiences still care about Rick O’Conner now that Dr. Jones himself returned earlier this year.

Although I cannot, for the life of me, remember a single moment from either The Mummy Returns or The Scorpion King, I definitely remember enjoying the first installment, The Mummy.

This trailer shows a lot of promise, and the battle of the undead right at the end looks pretty damn cool.

Unfortunately, Arnold Vosloo (Prince Imhotep) is nowhere in sight. Sigh, I guess Brendan Fraser fighting the Abominable Snowman will have to do.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor opens September 11.
