Tom Cruise is eager to Kill

Tom Cruise looks set to take on the starring role in Warner Bros’ adaptation of the anime All You Need is Kill, Deadline reports.

Brad Pitt was previously eyed for project, but it seems his busy schedule means the role is ripe for Cruise’s taking.

Doug Liman will direct the project, first scripted by Dante Harper and rewritten by Joby Harold (due to third act issues that kept the film from receiving the green light).

The rights to Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s comic – about “a young Army recruit who, despite being killed in the first day of intergalactic alien invasion of Earth, is continually resurrected Groundhog Day–style” – were picked up for seven-figures last year.

Cruise will likely begin production on All You Need is Kill once he wraps Joseph Kosinski‘s Oblivion.

Discuss: Are you eager to see Cruise wage another war of the worlds?

One Response to “Tom Cruise is eager to Kill”

  1. No – I’m tired of Cruise being the hero. I like Cruise in the Mission Impossible movies…anything else is just too much. His credibility took a battering with the couch-jumping, Scientology preaching. He doesn’t transcend into being any of his characters anymore…his personna is just too big for a movie character. Him being the main guy in Rock of Ages? Wasn’t anyone else available?
