Here’s a shocking development. Paramount will release a fifth instalment of its hit Paranormal Activity franchise in time for Halloween 2013.
Deadline confirmed the news, as well as the plan for a Latino-focused spin-off set for release early next year.
Screenwriter Christopher Landon would helm the spin-off, aimed at the Latino communities and Latin American countries who have been “the biggest supporters of the property.”
It’s not the first PA spin-off; Tokyo Nights was released in Japan before the first official sequel hit American cinemas.
Paranormal Activity 4 opened to $30 million at the U.S. box office over the weekend, considerably down from its predecessor’s $52 million debut.
That said, all four films have grossed more than $300 million worldwide on a combined budget of approximately $13 million.
This thing is far from over.
