Trailer Debut: ‘Nymphomaniac’ (NSFW)

Look, we’re all adults here. We knew that Lars von Trier would only be able to accurately advertise his epic sexual odyssey Nymphomaniac with a truly NSFW trailer.

But still … get those fainting couches ready, because you’ll be feeling a little light-headed after watching this thing. Do not be pressing play if you are indeed at W, on public transport, near children, in view of strangers, or at church.

Charlotte Gainsbourg stars as Joe, who is found battered and bruised in a back alley by Stellan Skarsgard. She proceeds to tell him the degrading tales of her sex addiction that led her there.

Stacy Martin plays the young Joe, while Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Christian Slater, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, and a host of other actors appear throughout the flick.

It was recently revealed that Lars had handed over final cut, having been unable to bring down the five-and-a-half hour running time.

The original plan to release both hardcore and softcore of the two-part film has been nixed, with only the hardcore version now hitting cinemas.

It does not yet have an Australian release date, but opens in Copenhagen this Christmas.
