From the makers of Happy Feet and Watchmen comes … wait, what?
The trailer for Zack Snyder‘s latest film Legend of the Guardians has debuted online. Based on the children’s book series Guardians of Ga’Hoole, the flick was developed with the assistance of Aussie animation studio Animal Logic (the team behind Happy Feet).
The film is based on the first three installments of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole series: The Capture, The Journey, and The Rescue. It follows a group of young owls who try to rescue a friend from his kidnappers.
Legend of the Guardians is Snyder’s first animated feature film, but a lot of his hallmarks are here (slow motion the most glaring). Seriously, this basically looks like 300 with Owls.
And I like that. Which is more than can be said for the terrible 30 Seconds To Mars song playing in the background.

Legend of the Guardians features the vocal talents of Sam Neill, Geoffrey Rush, David Wenham, Emily Barclay, Abbie Cornish, Emilie de Ravin, Ryan Kwanten, Jay Laga’aia, Miriam Margolyes, Helen Mirren, Deborra-Lee Furness and Jim Sturgess.
It hits Australian cinemas December 9th, 2010 in – you guessed it, 3D.
Discuss: So, will there be a raunchy love scene between two Owls to the tune of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah?
What is with Zack Snyder and song choices? How can one be so bad at picking a song for a film?
I'm a big fan of 'our voices on our films' but the voice talent I heard when I saw the trailer at the cinema was atrociously bad. This is ONE antipodean film I won't mind being dubbed with American accents. It's Dot and the Friggin' Kangaroo all over again! Terrible, terrible, cheesy, over-acted, embarrassing accents. This LOOKED the prettiest and coolest of ALL the trailers we saw before Toy Story 3, but it registered no reaction with the audience. The voice talent (or lack thereof) will kill this beautiful film!
