Beyoncé’s baby delays A Star Is Born

Beyoncé is taking her role in Clint Eastwood’s  upcoming A Star is Born remake a little too seriously as she announced at yesterday’s MTV Video Music Awards that she is expecting her first child with Jay-Z.

According to Deadline, her pregnancy will cause a delay to the production which was believed to begin in February 2012. Eastwood has sculpted this remake, taking the director’s chair and choosing Beyoncé as his leading lady. She will portray an up and coming star – a role previously played by Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand – opposite an as yet uncast male star on his fall from fame.

This production delay may be beneficial as Eastwood continues to seek his male lead after favourite Leonardo DiCaprio confirmed he isn’t interested. Other names that have been thrown around include Will Smith, Christian Bale and Beyoncé’s baby daddy, Jay-Z. Everything about this remake makes me want to weep.

Discuss: Are you hoping Beyoncé’s pregnancy puts a permanent kibosh on A Star is Born, or are you eager to see her in the role?
