Frank Darabont steals a Walking Dead star for L.A. Noir

Frank Darabont is back from the Dead.

The acclaimed filmmaker, and one of the creative forces behind hit TV show The Walking Dead (until he was unceremoniously fired by AMC, that is), will write, direct and executive produce a pilot for TNT entitled L.A. Noir.

Though it’s not based on the video game of the same name, it tells the true story of a street war waged between the LAPD and an organised crime syndicate in the late 1940s.

It looks as though Darabont may steal away one of The Walking Dead‘s stars to take on the lead role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jon Bernthal – currently playing Shane on TWD – is in talks to play cop Joe Teague in the pilot.

Should he get the part, and the pilot go to series, it seems likely Shane could end up zombie fodder in the very near future.

Discuss: Glad to see Darabont work on a new series?
