The Hobbit‘s Smaug has topped Forbes annual list of the richest fictional characters; the treasure hoarding dragon supposedly sits atop a loot worth $62 billion.
In second place is Scrooge McDuck’s nemesis Flintheart Glomgold with $51.9 billion – that has to hurt Scrooge.
Carlisle Cullen of Twilight fame has collected $36.3 billion over his lifetime(s), ranking far ahead of Jed Clampett (Beverley Hillbillies), Tony Stark (Iron Man), and Richie Rich, who each have a personal worth of approximately $8-10 billion.
Closing out the top 10: Charles Foster Kane of Citizen Kane with $8.3 billion and approximately zero sleds; Bruce Wayne AKA Batman on $6.9 billion; Forrest Gump, who earned $5.7 billion over the course of his eventful life; and finally Mr. Monopoly with a relatively unimpressive $2.5 billion.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo herself, Lisbeth Salander, stole $2.4 billion, which was good enough for eleventh place.

Discuss: Where did Forrest get all that money from? Bubba/Gump Shrimp?
