The trailer and poster for The LEGO Movie should put some fears to rest that Hollywood’s money-making scheme to churn out toy-based films will only litter our cinemas with garbage.
Surprisingly, The LEGO Movie trailer delivers laughs and a host of recognisable characters (Batman, Wonder Woman, etc.) sure to draw not just a young crowd but those who grew up playing with the toys. There’s a distinct Robot Chicken vibe to the humour and the stop motion effect in the impressive animation.
The film sees ordinary LEGO mini figure Emmet mistaken as the “Master Builder” and tasked, along with a band of helpers, to save the world from being glued together. There’s plenty of big names lending their voices including Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett and Alison Brie.
Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who delivered Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street are back working together for a third time, hoping to deliver another box office hit.
It hits cinemas February 7, 2014.
