Jason Bateman is set to direct The Family Fang, as well as star in it opposite Nicole Kidman.
According to Deadline, Batman has set the project as his directorial follow-up to the well-received Bad Words, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival and was swiftly purchased for distribution by Focus Features (at a cool $6 million).
The script – based on Kevin Wilson’s book of the same name – comes from David Lindsay-Abaire, and concerns a family of troubled performance artists who reunite for one last gig.
Lindsay-Abaire’s play Rabbit Hole was adapted into a feature film in 2010. Kidman starred in the pic, and collected a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her troubles.
